    UG Main Gate

I had to go to the UG Hospital today because I was told, the last time I went for my dental appointment for dental polishing, that I needed to do the filling of a tooth that was getting decayed. As the doctor advised then, I should come when I was less busy. I had the last lecture with the language PhD class yesterday; so, I felt I could spare part of today for the tooth filling.

As usual, I had a long wait; even though I ensured that I was there at the clinic reasonably early enough. Eventually, I was attended to between 12 pm and 1pm.

I am definitely not complaining because I don’t know how many Nigerian universities will include dental care in their staff members health package. I give kudos to the University of Ghana for the extensive health care covering of the staff members.

Anyway, I had the filling done on two teeth rather than just the one identified by the doctor I saw the last time the polishing of my teeth was done.

I was able to talk about Christ to some young men selling the ubiquitous coconut milk drink not far from the hospital grounds. They not only gave their lives to Christ, they also agreed to come to church. I was happy about that. God has prospered my journey today, indeed.

I had ridden my bicycle past the fountain at the Main Gate when I thought that this was a beautiful scene to photograph. You see, since it was re-opened for public use after its renovation, this was my first time of passing there. I even forgot to buy the UG souvenirs I was planning to buy on my way back from the hospital because of the photographs. I had to commandeer two young men going on their way at two different times to take the photographs, apart from the one I took by myself. God bless them for obliging me. I really appreciate their cooperativeness.

So, I present to you the UG Main Gate.

    Your comments will be appreciated.

    At the Makola Market, Accra

I am getting ready to visit Nigeria, so I went to get some things to take to my folks back home. I went from Legon and boarded the vehicle going to Circle (Kwame Nkrumah Circle, in full). Of course, I had to ask a conductor (or rather Mate, as they are called in Ghana). I was advised to take thevehiclegoing to Circle. I asked the next ‘mate’ calling passengers for Circle about the station I was going. He shook his head and spoke in Two God knows what. However, I gathered that he was not going the direction I was mentioning. As I was still contemplating what what to do, a young lady asked me where exactly I was going. I was still struggling to call Adab…Adab…when she came to my rescue and said Adabraka. I censented that that was where I wanted to go. She told me that that was also her destination.

We boarded the vehicle. I checked with my iPad the location of my destination and told her the exact bus stop. She assure me she was going there too.

We got down at the Circle and had to take another shuttle bus. We stopped at the Roxy Cinema bus stop and asked for Efex station. Someone kindly directed us and this was how I located where I was going. The young lady and I parted ways after the exchange of appreciation of each other.

I finished my business at Adabraka and boarded another shuttle but to Accra as directed by a staff member of Efex. However, I got a bit confused with the road being my first time alone to venture into the Makola Market. Nonetheless, I knew some landmarks. As I asked the bus driver about these, I was properly directed.

I then went to look at some fabrics I intend to take back to Nigeria as my token of being in Ghana for a year now. As it is usual with the African markets, you have to haggle and haggle. Eventually, by the help of the Holy Spirit, I was able to locate a wholesale shop. There I got the fabric that I liked, because they are uncommon and pretty. I made my purchase and had to find my way back.

I was again a bit confused when I could not easily locate the landmarks I identified. I had to ask someone who kindly assisted me and pointed out that I was near locating the landmarks. I was able to find my way out. I studied the statue of one of the statutes of a Gà King that ruled till the early 1900s. As I was stil wondering how to get to Tema Station to board a bus going to Madina via Legon, low and behold one in front of me. I boarded it and on my way back to campus. I was running to catch up with my PhD student at 3pm.

I actually got to the campus by around 2pm but I later saw my student’s missed calls. She then told me that the class was shifted to 2pm.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, we had the class as planned.

But I unfortunately missed teaching in the foundation school today as my subject: Covenant of Financial Prosperroty was already reallocated before I got to class. Anyway, I thank god that I was able to help my holding the babies that were a disturbance to their parents at the Foundation School.

Eventually, it was a glorious session.

So, that was how Mokola Market shared my day today.

    God bless.

    Dignity in Labour

    Dear People,

Hope you had a nice day like me today.

My day was awesome. You see, Ms Q. decided to allow me to tag along to her dough mixing and dough kneading industrial machine point.

    See some pix here

She bakes bread and makes pastries. Her little bakery in Legon, Ghana has been of interest to me for quite a while. My questions were answered by her without reservation. Moreover, she delights in showing me the secrets of bread making without qualms. I really admire this woman’s generosity. I saw how tedious the work is. I can only pray that God helps her to raise the money to take her business to the next ‘automated’ level. Watching her moulding  the dough into different sizes and trays made me think of many struggling businesses. I told her aboutbread slicer   on Saturnday. Today, I showed her pictures and videos of dough divider on YouTube. She was pleasantly surprised about this. I just wish I can help to move her business forward in my own little way. She has told me to help her get the bread slicer when I go to Nigeria. I surely will ask around and get one for her.

And, please, if you have an idea of where I can get it in Lagos, let me know. The information will be much appreciated.

Have a great and restful night.

Still wondering about what I’ll eat at this time of the day!

    God help your daughter, please!

    Faithful God

    Dear People,

    How has your Saturday been?

Mine had been eventful. First, we were at Church early this morning for WSF operators empowerment meeting at the Winners Chapel International, Madina, Accra, Ghana. It was a life broadcast worldwide for Canaanland. I then picked a few things from the Madina market. I went home and decided to go,for my bread making lessons before the evening fellowship. However, I had only about one and half hours of lesson from Mrs Quaye so I went home earlier than anticipated. I used the opportunity to clean my house and also bake two tins of cake towards the evening Zonal fellowship. I was glad that I did because everyone seemed to enjoy the cake. I added one tin to the fruits presented to the brethren. My co-sabbatical professor at UG, Prof Amubode, also brought watermelon and busicuit. So, we really had a swell time at the fellowship today.

Before the fellowship, however, I decided to look at my M.Phil. students work in order to create some space for my own research. You see, I have a deadline for 15th – the Lord will just have to help me, I assure you. However, some of the way the research was organized was off putting. Nonetheless, I made the necessary comments and drew attention to the sohortcomings to be corrected and resubmitted. (Any wonder teachers are hated so much?)  Lots of love, people.

It has been a wonderful day in which I was privileged to host the Zone in my Humber abode. Lord Jesus, I do not take the privilege for granted. The Lord has been so faithful and wonderful to me.

    A thinking mind

    Hello there, people.

I expect your day has been great today.

    Mine was, by His grace.

Your mind is a great asset for you. However, you need to know how to positively engage it for your good and the advancement of your society. It is important that you learn to think and think through. This is why the Bible admonished us to think on pure and positive things in Phil. 4:8. Negative thoughts immobilize. However, positive thoughts help you to release creative energy. Have you thought of the time of your waking in the morning and the beautiful thoughts that follow it? This is to tell you that before the negative thoughts crowd your mind, your thoughts in the purity of day break are usually edifying. With such beautiful thoughts, you create beautiful pieces. Even business women and men know this secret and make judicious use of their mornings.

God bless you as you make good use of your positive creative energy to the benefit of our world every morning.
