  • Being alive with Jesus

    Life can come in different forms. However, the most important life to live is that we live for Jesus.

    Sincerely, the best of my life had been Jesus finding me 30 years ago. Sincerely, it had been a beautify journey. I was sickly, weak and assumed to have a little time to live. It was even thought that I would not exceed my teen years or at best survive up to my early 20s.

    However, God had a better plan. I had a violent encounter with typhoid fever in in my third year in the university as an undergraduate. It left me a limping young person, with a heart condition that persisted.

    Then, one evening, precisely 27 May, 1990, I met with my Jesus. He spoke to me love tunes that seduced my heart and I fell hopelessly in love. My heart knew it had found its resting place. Despite many attempts to distract my heart from the truth, I stood my ground and remained in the winning team. The Lord was always telling me that I should not forget how much He had done for me. I refused to forget. You know why?

    Sicknesses left me. Even ulcer was destroyed. Malaria became an alien to me.

    And my parents could not complain about this my new found ‘Lover’ that took over the whole of my life and time because He removed so much negativity from my life. I became that bright light God has created me to be.

    I am also happy to introduce you to Him. There is enough space for us all on His bosom. Join me, guys, as I appreciate this beautiful Groom that found me and proposed to me a beautiful marriage event to which only the righteous and true are invited.

    Guys, I am in love and I am ready to share Him. Yes, I am that generous with this love. He is super great and I am enjoying Him.

    On this great day of my life, I present to you the best Gift I had ever received in my life – Jesus Christ!

  • #COVID19 and the glamorous helper

    Has it ever crossed your mind that being a helper is actually very glamorous?

    Yes, I really mean that. As in giving a helping hand to people in need – emotionally, materially, financially, even in doing their house chores.

    Scandalous, right?

    I sincerely hope that if we learnt no other lesson from our experiences with the #COVID19 situation as citizens of the world, it should be the glamour of being a helper.

    Everyone continued to clap for the health workers in the frontline, and rightly so. But today, I also wish to celebrate those heroes of our communities that are giving their own helping hand in their own little ways.

    Did you give a cup of beans to someone?

    Did you give a tuber of yam to another?

    Probably, all you could give is a loaf of bread?

    Or yours is even the showing of an opportunity that can help people take back their lives after losing their jobs to the economic downturn consequential to the #COVID19 pandemic.

    Maybe a smile and a call is all you could afford. A little kind word of encouragement here and there in the face of this crisis that taught us that we must work together as citizens of the world to triumph over this strange situation we are now faced with.

    Did you give a stranded stranger a shelter due to the hotels not working?

    Is your own that kind act of self isolating in order not to get others in your community infected by your exposure to the virus?

    Whatever act or helping hand you have extended in this period, you have added glamour to an otherwise dreadful situation around us.

    This stands as a tribute to you 🙌🏽

    Even if it is to help the elderly do get their groceries from the corner shop. If it is to stay home, missing your family member that is in the frontline, understanding that we all have to make sacrifices at this time. If it is to give the gift of face masks or give your expertise to help contain this virus. If it is being careful not to expose others or to cooperate with the protocols of keeping all safe, we celebrate you too.

    You are all the heroes of the this triumph and we celebrate you all 👏🏽

    I may not have a lot of money to offer anyone at this time; but I do have an idea of how you can survive the economic crisis that may follow this period. I will be glad to share that knowledge with you if you are willing to learn. Just talk to me and I will be glad to also be of help to you?

  • How emotionally intelligent are you?

    Have you ever wondered about the part your emotions have to play in your life and relationships? How important have you considered that being empathic to the feelings of others can actually improve your relationships with them? Have you been concerned about your relationship with your colleagues and neighbours? The questions go on and on.

    In this #COVID19 era, emotional intelligence is key. People are getting sacked and people are feeling desperate. As an individual, how are you reacting to the situation you are facing? How are you are you reacting to the situation of others around you? How much are you able to apply your discerning ability to the communications that come your way? Are you easily overtaken by emotions or you assess issues based on their merit?

    Now, don’t get me wrong. Am I saying you are expected to suppress your emotions? Not at all. What I am saying is that you need to recognise your emotions. It is a realistic part of you. All of us have emotions. How we manage them is important. The other important thing is how you react to others within your purview. Are you feeling they are disturbance and you let them feel so or you make them feel welcomed?

    Why is this important? The truth is that whatever or whoever you may be in the society, your emotions have a lot of impact on your decisions and behaviour. As such, you may be a highly intelligent person or a ‘big’ person in your society, if your emotional intelligence is low, it is a booby trap waiting to destroy all your life achievements.

    The way out is that, the same way you learnt the skills to have a career, it is important you learn to master the skill of emotional intelligence. So, the first thing is to understand that we need to determine our level of emotional intelligence.

    I ask you again, what is your level of your emotional intelligence? If you do not know it, then keep faith with us as we unravel this mystery here by giving you a series of articles on the subject.

    However, to start with, let’s take some tests to help us assess our level of emotional intelligence.

    Are you aware of your strengths as a person?

    Are you easily irritated and you also show it?

    Do you easily feel threatened by the success of others?

    Do you make an effort to understand other people and see issues from their perspective?

    Are you big on values and do you defend your integrity rather than bending it to fit situations?

    Do you prefer to defer to others whether necessary or not or do you stand your grounds for the right thing?

    We will try build on these as we go along. However, ensure that you answer these questions to practice and prepare for the future posts here.
